Jefferson County Fair & Fairgrounds Re-Imagined

The door is open, and energy is pouring in.

The Jefferson County Fair Association is taking bold steps to usher your County Fair and Fairgrounds into the modern era.

On June 10, 2022, the non-profit County Fair Association, which puts on the County Fair and manages the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, accepted a new vision for the future; Go all in on transforming the grounds into a youth and family hub for the 362 days a year that the County Fair is not taking place. This message has been circulating from the new management and board members, and 100% of the time it has been met with “how can I help?”

“There is an immense amount of energy pouring into the 32 acres that make up the fairgrounds.” says Danny McEnerney, the new manager.

Multiple community leaders and organizers have stepped up to bring events and services here, with the first being a Roller Skating Party for youth in the Erickson Building on July 1st. Why roller skating? Because kids need to blow of some steam and enjoy some innocent fun.

Talks are underway with PT Cottage School Co-op to have a more permanent space hosting homeschool enrichment classes and after school programs, and a new group comprised of youth service agencies, parents, citizens, and kids themselves, will have their second meeting hosted at the fairgrounds on June 15th at 7pm.

The county’s 4-H program is just starting back up after the pandemic, and talks of childcare, teen centers, a pump track, roller rink, incubator farm plots, a community kitchen, a youth training kitchen, a renaissance faire, a van conversion festival, and a vastly updated campground, are just a few of the ideas actively being investigated.

With regards to the Association’s commitment to agriculture and industry, we are excited to build relationships with every operation in East Jefferson County. The work has begun, though it will take time. We want farms, educational agencies, product designers and inventors, including individuals and their unique talents, not just represented but supported by the County Fair and the Fair Association. Keep an eye out for major growth in this area.

Danny McEnerney, new Manager of the fair & fairgrounds is available to discuss your ideas and how you’d like to be a part of this new vision. Danny can be reached at info@jeffcofairgrounds.com, (360) 385-1013.
